In the land of 5/6 G, people write news reports and do great learning every day of the week. This week we have been mainly focused on the Wizard of Oz. We did some news reports (The Kansas Times) and script writing.
In RE we have been learning about questions we would ask God. Here is a picture of Sean's work.
We thought that we would ask God questions because we want him or her to stop people killing animals.
In literacy, 5/6G having been writing letters of complaint about the dragons that keep attacking the fearless village of Berk, in the great story 'How to Train Your Dragon'! Here are two examples of amazing writing, made by Hollie and Wilf!
Here is an extract from Hollie's writing:
To improve this situation, I would recommend that you to assist us with our daily jobs: fishing, farming and rebuilding our houses. In return we will provide you with food!
Here is an extract from Wilf's book:
Furthermore, I would also like to point out that you have been stealing and feasting on our livestock. The bones have been littering the street, with flesh dripping off as well. We feel very sorrowful; our whole village has been ravenous and suffering for months.
This week in year 5/6 we have been creating Wizard of Oz theme parks using various maths skills. First, we made logos and brainstormed possible things to have in our theme parks. Next, we decided what we would eventually include e.g. the number of major and minor rides we would have; how many places you can buy food, or normal stuff like paths and car parks.
Then, we worked out how much profit we made. This involved lots of big calculations, based on visitor numbers, café and shop sales and the daily costs of running the park.
In our class we have been writing diaries for different famous Tudor people . A lot of us wrote a diary for kings and queens but some people wrote about other famous Tudors, like James who wrote a diary entry as Tybalt. Also, he is that character in Romeo and Juliet which is coming up in June. Please read our blog next week and don't forget to comment. Alexa , Alice and James.
We got an interview with Manny, one of our runners in the 5/6 yomp. He talked to us about how he pulled through and what it was like.
In 3/4F we have been leaning about Seasonal Foods. We found out that in Spring, carrots, peas and leeks grow. Also, in Summer, strawberries and cucumbers grow.
This week in 5/6T an exciting new D.T. project sprung up. We have been using inspiration from the Bayeux tapestry to construct our own embroidery/applique using cotton and thread.
Here are some examples of our project so far.
In 3\4JT are learning about the Tudors. We have acted out the Battle of Bosworth and learnt about how Henry won. Henry was a good king - he bought peace to England, but Henry the VIII changed everything.
