During 'Gart' week, several children had the opportunity to make a film, documenting everything that happened, with professional film makers. The result of all their hard work (and an explanation of the term 'Gart'!) can be viewed below.
We would also like to thank Jay and the team at www.jam-av.com for all of their help in producing this!
A big thank you to all the parents, Leamington Round Table members and Tesco staff who turned out on Saturday to help plant out our new beds! The beds look amazing and hopefully over the coming months and years the plants will establish themselves and make a great focal point for the heart of our school!
Congratulations to the 14 boys and 11 girls who represented the school in the Central Area Cross Country Trial. This was a record number of runners we have had from the school, all of whom gave maximum energy and effort over a very wet and boggy course.
I am very pleased to write that both are boys’ and girls’ teams finished in 1st place. A truly great result with other 130 children competing in each race from 20 schools.
A special mention for the following children who will go on to represent the Central Area in the County race next weekend: Hannah (6th), Lucy (9th), Eva (11th), Harry W (1st), Dylan (2nd) and Harry B(15th).
Congratulations to the 24 boys and girls that represented the school at the Central Area Cross Country Relays held at Abbey Fields, Kenilworth on Saturday. We had three teams in each race and every single runner tried their hardest and contributed to the team successes. A special well done to the year 5 children who were representing the school for the first time and to Harry B who ran with a broken finger! There were over 20 teams in each race, our girls finished 2nd, 11th and 19th and the boys finished 1st, 3rd and 6th!! A superb team effort!
Work continued at a pace last week with the brick layers hard at work. The raised beds are nearly completed with just the coping stones and bench slats to be installed. Today the beds were filled with topsoil. Also, the first layer of tarmac has been laid with the top coat due to go on later this week.
The groundwork has continued this week with further footings being dug for raised flower beds, and the brick paving being removed where the entrance onto the playground is being widened. Bricklayers are due on site tomorrow.
And inside the school building......
The painters have just finished painting the main hall and will be starting their journey down the junior corridor.
Three toilets have been ripped out and are ready to be equipped with new furniture!
The sun shone on Saturday and many members of the Milverton school community enjoyed a fun afternoon on the school field. Thanks to Sarah Simon and her PTA helpers who organised the event and spent much time setting up and clearing away. Undoubtedly, the main attraction was over 40 Dads and staff playing in a six a side football competition! The quality of football was of the usual high standard, with the England team deservedly running out winners and Jim Mills earning himself man of the tournament with some inspirational saves in goal.
