Is Wrap Around Milverton (WAM) different from previous before /after school clubs provision? Some of the clubs on offer are run by the same providers as they have been this year, some of the newer clubs are replacing the providers from this year. Milverton is taking this club provision under its umbrella of WAM. This will be a simple one price for childcare and then you can choose one of the activity clubs on offer or take up the choices option. The choices option is a more flexible club that will allow children to join in with a art or cooking project activity or they may choose to colour or even play outside for some of the time.
Will the Infants and Juniors be separated? Some of the clubs have always mixed age ranges, dependent on the activity. Most activities are separated and the choices club will be separate for infant and juniors.
Where will the activities be held? The hall will be used for sports clubs, the dining hall for dance and drama clubs, after school football will be at the school field, choices club will be held in the library, the ICT suite, West Hall main area, and different classrooms depending on the activity. The club leaders may also choose to use the playground spaces if this is appropriate for the activity, the choices club may choose to play in one of the outside spaces.
Where will the children be dropped off and collected from? Children will be dropped off in the morning either in the main hall or at the main reception. These children will then be seen into class at the end of the session. After school, the first session will run to 4.30 and children will be collected from the main playground, outside the main hall, as they are now. The second session will end at 5.45 and children will be collected on the main playground outside the main hall. Those staying until 6.00pm will be collected from the main reception.
Is the WAM club term time only? Yes, in our first year we are only looking at a term time provision. Although, many of our club providers also run holiday clubs.
Will Tennis and Squash at the Tennis Club still be running? Yes, this is one club that falls outside the umbrella of WAM. The infant tennis club with tony will continue at school within the WAM provision but the Juniors Tennis and Squash sessions will continue to run as they have done previously with payment going directly to the tennis club. When we know the numbers for next year we are looking at how we might be able to bring children back from the tennis club to school as this presents a problem for some parents.
Who gets priority for places in the clubs? Activity club places will be allocated on a first come first served basis, we are aiming to make sure there is a place for everyone, but to be sure of your place in an activity club get the booking form in straight away!
If you need to have a specific time allocated to your child, to fit around your working pattern then complete an annual booking form. This will ensure you are on the registers every half term. You will need to complete the booking form to ensure your child receives their choice of activity club.
How will we know how much to pay? Once a booking form has been completed and submitted we will allocate contracts, guidance and an invoice for the following half term. Making the payment via the parent pay website will ensure the place is secured. Places will always be charged one half term in advance.
